The parts of this Egyptian hieroglyph were used metaphorically as symbols for the senses. Arithmetically the number one (the whole) was divided into a number of fractions which when added together total one (1).
1/2 = smell, the nose to the right of the eye
1/4 = sight or the sensation of light, the pupil.
1/8 = thought, the eyebrow.
1/16 = hearing, th left of the eye pointing towards the ear.
1/32 = taste, the sprouting, curved stalk of wheat,
1/64 = touch, the leg touching the ground, or a strong plant growing into the surface of the earth. Later 1/64 denoted 'rest' and 'healing'.
The senses represented in the Eye were all present when I took each photo as well as in the process of translating that moment into the images presented here. Only you, the viewer, will know whether any of these senses are evoked again when looking at an image.
